Did you know…

On 10 April 1912, the 'unsinkable' ship, the Titanic departed from Southampton's port at Berth 44. The vessel carried 3,327 passengers and crew for its journey to New York. Plans were for the Titanic to go on to Cherbourg in France, then to Queenstown, Ireland and its destination, New York. However, four days into the crossing, she hit an iceberg and sank less than three hours later.

About Southampton

Southampton is the largest city in Hampshire, located on the south coast of England. It has a population of around 245,000 and is a major port and trading centre. It is also home to the University of Southampton and Southampton Solent University.

The city's transport links include Southampton Central Station, which provides frequent rail services to London (lying 79 miles northeast) and Brighton (63 miles east); Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Terminal; and Southampton International Airport. In addition, Southampton's history can be seen all around the city, from Green Street in the city centre to Southampton Water and other landmarks that stand as testaments to Southampton's past.

The Southampton Community

The high street shopping area is largely pedestrianised, and you can find high-end shopping areas located on Above Bar Street, while the Bevois Valley area is famous for pubs and restaurants. Many markets are held in the city centre on Wednesdays and Saturdays and include an antique market run by local auctioneers Woolley & Wallis, attracting visitors from across Europe.

The local community is made up of a mix of young professionals, families with children, retirees and students, with plenty of clubs and societies to make new friends and enjoy annual events such as the Fringe Festival (the largest arts festival outside London). The city's cultural venues include Southampton City Art Gallery, the oldest municipal art gallery in Britain, Southampton Museum and The National Marine Aquarium.

We used RE/MAX for the sale of our property. RE/MAX was very helpful from start to finish, always there at the end of the phone when needed. Always chasing for updates. They have been truly amazing! Their costs are also very good value for money when you consider the service they provide. I would highly recommend!

We recently sold our house with RE/MAX and are so happy with the service we have received. Our house sold in a matter of days, which is amazing, and Shaun has been contactable at all times for any questions we have. We would definitely recommend using RE/MAX to anyone we know who is thinking of moving home.

A very friendly, in-depth market appraisal. Lots of information was provided about the reason for the valuation and advice on what improvements should or shouldn’t be made if planning to sell the house soon. Overall a very helpful guide on what our house is currently worth. If we decide to sell we would definitely use RE/MAX.
